Mission

The Black Youth & Senior Citizen Foundation's underlying mission is to bridge the generational divide and bring civility, compassion, respect, along with entrepreneurship back to the community of South Central Los Angeles. Achieving this goal requires an intergenerational and sensible effort that fosters dialogue, cultivates wisdom across generations. It also requires a holistic approach that treats mind, body, and soul.

We believe that our elders are the strings that bind the old with the young and create an environment where our community can accomplish prosperity. While Churches and existing community organizations are doing some of the work already, we believe that much more can be accomplished.

The BYSC’s role is to act as a safety net, by providing a bridge that fulfills the unmet needs of marginalized Black residents throughout South LA, honoring both the elders and the youth by designing and rolling out robust programmatic interventions that respond to the unique challenges faced by our community.

From trauma-informed programs to gang interventions, and educational programs, the BYSC Foundation aims to equip our community members with the tools needed to not only overcome structural racism but compete in an increasingly competitive world.

Our youth needs to be empowered, nurtured using a holistic approach. Achieving this objective requires dedication and programmatic funding (restricted and unrestricted) to provide a thorough and comprehensive response to the unique challenges faced by our community, along with one-on-one targeted mentoring that tangibly addresses the unmet needs of our community.
