Who we are

Background

The Black Youth and Senior Citizen Foundation (BYSCF) is a non-profit organization created to address the unique challenges and needs faced by Black families in South Los Angeles.

Programs

Founded at the height of the Covid 19 pandemic, BYSCF aims to provide an interventional response to the growing effects of structural and institutional racism faced by South LA residents.

Our organization seeks to tackle these challenges by designing thoughtful programmatic responses while espousing a multidisciplinary approach to overcoming trauma and connecting Black residents with the knowledge and resources needed to thrive.

From political advocacy, trauma-informed care to gang violence rehabilitation, re-entry programs, we harness community ties with the objective of connecting our members to critically-needed resources to sustain bodies, minds, and self-growth, while bringing family units whole. This includes organizing information sessions on the importance of the community getting vaccinated which includes on site testing and covid vaccination.

Our empowerment programs are thoughtfully designed to address the current unmet needs of marginalized black residents. A detailed list of our services can be accessed here.

BYSCF is unapologetic in affirming and centering the needs of Black residents in the South LA community. Our mission is to help improve our community and society by bridging the gap between the elderly, the at-risk youth, middle-aged and young adults.
